More than 150 workers are planning to go on a protected strike at CHEP Jet Park.%>
Workers were at the CCMA on the 15th August 2025, where they got the certificate of deadlock and finalized the picketing rules.
Workers’ demands are:
1. Wage increase of R2500 per month across the board
2. Share Scheme
3. Study Assistance
4. Housing allowance of R5000
5. Medical Aid
6. Branded CHEP PPE
7. Payslips directly from CHEP
Workers are not treated like other permanent workers of CHEP. They are not given a share scheme, no branded CHEP PPE is provided to them, and they do not receive their payslips directly from CHEP. Workers are treated like second-class citizens, but it is the same labour of workers that generates the profits for the CHEP bosses. It is through the exploitation of the labour of workers that the CHEP bosses are making their profits.
The cost of living is constantly increasing. Workers are spending most of their wages on food and transport. The bosses of CHEP initially offered workers a miserable 5,5% wage increase but have now even withdrawn this miserable 5,5% wage increase.
The bosses have also rejected the other demands of the workers.
Workers are calling on other workers and communities to support their struggle and the coming strike!!
Unity is Strength! Amandla!
