ZGG farm workers win at court over unpaid minimum wages

Workers at ZGG Farm defeated their employer in the Krugersdorp Magistrates Court on 21 January 2026

The employer failed to pay the workers the National Minimum Wage.

Working with CWAO, the workers had the employers' tractors and other goods attached by the sheriff. These were to be sold to pay the workers back. However, every time the sheriff arrived at the farm to confiscate the goods, the employer claimed he was not the owner, and CWAO was forced to file a case at court.

The employer did not turn up for the court date and the magistrate ruled that the sheriff must attach any item on the farm that can be sold to pay the workers back the difference between their wages and the National Minimum Wage.
