Boksburg, Gauteng – Members of the Simunye Workers Forum (SWF) and community supporters are staging a protest outside CHEP Jet Park in Boksburg, demanding permanent employment for long-serving casual workers.

The protest, which began this week, has drawn attention to what workers describe as years of “exploitation and unfair labour practices” by the global pallet and container manufacturing giant.

CHEP, owned by the Australian multinational Brambles Limited, is accused of keeping some employees on casual contracts for up to 18 years without offering permanent positions or benefits.

According to the forum, workers have been on strike since 21 August 2025, calling on the company to improve working conditions, provide job security, and respect labour rights.

“We are tired of being treated as temporary staff for nearly two decades while the company continues to make billions,” said one worker during the demonstration.

The striking employees say they will not return to work until management meets their demands for permanent employment and fair treatment.

CHEP is yet to issue an official response to the ongoing strike and protest action.
